MOPS

Mothers of Preschoolers

Third Tuesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. - Noon

MOPS programs are designed for mothers with children ages birth through kindergarten. The meetings are for women of all different walks of life and ages, who share a common desire to become better moms and stronger women of influence in our communities.

MOPS meetings allow Mom to have some “down time” while her children are cared for in a loving, preschool-like environment with age-appropriate activities. Meetings typically consist of refreshments, guest speakers, crafts, and fellowship where moms can share practical parenting strategies.

Childcare

Children may be checked into their rooms beginning at 9:15 a.m.  If your child requires the use of a diaper bag, please include a change of clothes, disposable diapers or training pants, wipes, pacifiers, and a bottle or juice cup.  Please clearly label each item with your child’s name.  Children 12 weeks old and younger are not required to be in childcare.  However, if your child becomes disruptive in the meeting room, we ask that you dismiss yourself to quiet them.  Meetings are a time of rest and renewal for MOPS moms.  Baby sounds, even happy ones, can be distracting during the teaching time.

Meeting Fees

There is a $5 meeting fee for our SSBC MOPS group.  This fee is used to offset the costs of speakers, brochures, creative activities, decorations, paper products, advertising, newsletters, the charter renewal fee, and other supplies needed for MOPS operations.

SSBC MOPS is a chartered member of MOPS International.  Each MOPS member should pay the MOPS to Mom Connection Fee ($20) as required by MOPS International.  This fee will be waived for anyone who visits MOPS for the first time after January of the current MOPS year.  Should anyone have difficulty paying the MOPS to Mom Connection Fee, she should discuss the issue with the Finance Team Leader, who will handle the situation discreetly.  SSBC MOPS does not want involvement to be a hardship on anyone.

If you have any questions or concerns, you may call the church office or email the MOPS steering committee at tjpennyw@bellsouth.net.
